The Tangipahoa Parish School System Board meeting on October 7, 2026, approved a change in employee medical gap-insurance provider from Globe to Transamerica, effective January 1, 2027. The district will pay 100% of the premium; the motion passed unanimously. The board also considered a timber sale bid, with one bidder and estimated proceeds of about $30,000. After questions about the value and management of the 220-acre tract, the board unanimously tabled the award pending more information or rebidding, and members suggested reviewing other timber properties and consulting a timberland manager. A board member also raised the possibility of pursuing RFPs for a proposed dome gym at Independence High School, but no procurement action was taken.

The board unanimously adopted a resolution in connection with longstanding desegregation litigation, affirming continued facilities oversight practices, including public tracking of work orders, site inspections, public reporting of facilities budgets, and full board approval of capital projects of $50,000 or more. The board also approved the 2026–2027 pupil progression plan and the incoming superintendent’s contract; no procurement-related dollar amounts were stated for those items.
