The Calcasieu Parish School Board meeting was held October 6, 2026 (the transcript date; the metadata timestamp is October 7 UTC). The board approved the 2026–27 General Fund budget revision, with projected revenues of $411,264,140 and expenditures of $408,836,387, and approved retroactive salary-step adjustments funded by sales-tax revenue, with ongoing costs covered by the General Fund. It also approved employee sales-tax supplements of $8,000 for teachers and $5,600 for support staff. A proposal to extend the support-staff salary schedule to 47 steps was tabled for a December meeting pending cost estimates for several possible step ranges.

The board approved advertising several bond-, general-fund-, and CEF-funded campus and facility projects, including school renovations, athletic facilities, a STEM center, and a CTE electrical-training unit. It approved two construction change orders: Western Heights additions increased by $2,536 and 15 days, and Washington Marion High School stadium improvements increased by $48,311.90 and 86 days. Westwood reported that four Hurricane Laura recovery projects remained in punch-list work and were expected to close by late October; three other projects were continuing into 2027. The board also approved a long-term funding agreement with Persimmon Gulch Solar LLC: conditional annual donations beginning at $150,000 and potentially increasing with electricity production, designated for schools in the Moss Bluff and DeQuincy areas. The agreement is intended to bind a future project buyer and was amended to state that the payments are not a tax offset. Approval followed a roll-call vote.
