The Marshfield Board of Public Works meeting on October 5, 2026, discussed a proposed Grant Rock groin reconstruction but took no action to approve a project. Staff described coastal-resilience and permitting constraints and said the state ECO One-Stop expression of interest was not currently being pursued; residents were directed to upcoming grant-program webinars and staff follow-up. Staff also discussed seeking town funding upfront for eligible coastal work with an anticipated 75% FEMA reimbursement, while noting the final eligible amount was not yet known. The board received updates on an audit awaiting accounting and town-administrator coordination, and traffic-safety items at School and Plain streets and Surf and Ocean streets; no decisions were made on those items.
The board approved several procurements: a third and final year extension of Contract 2025-12 to Wayne Lopes Grading of Marshfield for bulldozer and operator services, estimated at $68,000; Contract 2027-9 to Colonial Stone of Kingston for a Cedar Grove Cemetery headstone-restoration assessment, $34,585; Contract 2027-20 to Safe Fire Protection for annual backflow testing, $10,000; Contract 2027-21 to Applied Specialties Innovations LLC for wastewater-treatment polymer, estimated at $30,000 annually; and Contract 2027-22 to Kimley-Horn and Associates for engineering services to design and oversee rehabilitation of about 400 feet of the wastewater-treatment plant influent sewer main, $92,155. The cemetery contract funds an assessment and recommendations only; any restoration work will require a separate procurement.
