The City of Bangor Planning Board met on October 6, 2026. The Board unanimously approved the minutes from September 1 and findings for two previously considered properties. It also unanimously approved a major site development and site location of development permit for the City of Bangor Community Connector at 511 Main Avenue. The project includes renovating an existing bus-storage building, constructing a 6,070-square-foot training center, and making drainage, parking, access, and electrical-service improvements to support possible future hybrid and electric buses. No contract award, vendor selection, or procurement spending was discussed.
The Board also unanimously approved a minor subdivision and planned group development permit for Waterstone Bangor LLC to create a 0.54-acre outparcel at 6 Bangor Mall Boulevard; any future development there will require further review. In other business, staff discussed a possible growth-boundary change to accommodate a potential VA hospital, with a public workshop planned for October 29, and a proposed downtown floor-area-ratio change that staff expects to bring forward for a public hearing on October 20. These were discussions of potential land-use changes, not final approvals. The Board also received an update on the ongoing land development code rewrite. No procurement activity was identified.
