The Grant County Area Plan Commission meeting on October 5, 2026, focused primarily on a proposed 2027 Appendix A fee and fine schedule and related zoning ordinance amendments, following a state-law change requiring fees to be tied more closely to the Area Plan Office’s costs and work. After reviewing the schedule, the commission approved amendments including a $40 minimum for specified fees, a $50 reduction to the proposed special-exception and development-standards-variance fees, and adding actual outside technical-review costs to certain modification fees. The commission also supported a four-times-permit-fee penalty for violations and a provision withholding certificates of occupancy until outstanding fees and fines are paid. Resolution No. 6, recommending the amended fee schedule and ordinance language to the County Commissioners, passed. No contracts, vendor selections, or other procurement activity were identified.
The commission adopted group findings of fact for a previously heard CAFO matter and approved the September 14 minutes. Members also received an update that a special meeting and public hearing were planned for October 15 on proposed moratoria related to data centers and battery energy storage. The Area Plan Office is not accepting data-center development applications while a related ordinance is being developed; staff planned to circulate a revised draft for further review. These fee and land-use decisions may affect future development applicants and project costs in the county.
