đź’Ľ Professional Services Grants & Funding

The Rutherford County (RCTV) Steering Committee met on October 5, 2026. Procurement- and funding-related discussion centered on opioid-abatement funds and the board that recommends their distribution. Members discussed proposed changes to the board’s membership and terms, whether its work could instead be handled through existing county committees, and the role and cost of Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) in screening applications. MTSU’s current contract was described as approximately $100,000, with reimbursement payments processed through the county’s general fund; officials said the agreement runs through approximately June or July 2027 and is reviewed on a fiscal-year basis. The committee voted to table the proposed resolution for one month. Members also discussed the restricted uses and oversight of the funds, estimated balances of about $2 million in one funding tranche and a smaller, unspecified balance in another, and a planned transition as funds and related work ramp down.

The committee approved a one-year grant of $180,000, with no local match, to support two full-time certified court interpreters; the grant may be renewed, and officials said the positions would be identified as grant-funded rather than requiring county retention after the grant ends. The approval passed by roll call. Separately, members discussed possible county commission workshops on topics including the jail, infrastructure, schools, budgets, and board effectiveness, but took no substantive action on a workshop plan; a motion directed county leadership and finance staff to return with options and logistical details. Other agenda items primarily involved board appointments and administrative matters, with no additional contract awards or capital-project spending approvals identified.
