The Salinas Airport Commission meeting on September 24, 2026, welcomed new District 5 Commissioner Jocelyn Alvarado and unanimously approved the consent agenda, including the July 23 minutes, operations report, and fuel flowage report. The airport manager reported record August Jet A sales of $20,759 during Car Week, when the airport serviced more than 127 jets over ten days, and noted that the airport is coordinating with FBO Gate One on capacity for future peak demand. Beta Technologies provided electric-aircraft charging equipment at no cost to the airport; the airport receives a fee from charging activity, with $81.80 reported for July while staff work to clarify the payment schedule.
The manager also reported that the airport purchased approximately 4,500 feet of pedestrian fencing for use at events, including the air show, and plans to rent it to nonprofits to recover the cost over time; the purchase price was not stated. The airport plans to issue an RFP for a potential recurring Sunday farmers/flea market, with responsibilities for setting up and taking down the fencing to be addressed. These plans were informational; no procurement-related motion or vote was taken. The meeting also included an update on the upcoming air show, with the Air Force Thunderbirds headlining.
