The October 5, 2026 Denison City Council meeting approved a citywide historic resources survey consultant services agreement with Preservation Texas. The project costs $40,000, with $20,000 covered by a Certified Local Government grant; it includes a detailed downtown survey and windshield surveys of three districts. Council also unanimously approved purchasing three solid-waste trucks for $1,026,650, an amount already budgeted. The trucks were quoted through BuyBoard, and Volvo Mack of Waco was selected as the lowest-priced option; staff cited immediate availability and compatibility with the city’s existing Mack fleet. The two residential-route trucks will replace units experiencing frequent downtime, while the third is a grapple truck for bulk and brush collection.
After executive session, council directed staff to remove the structures at Waterloo Pool and appointed a future aquatics-planning task force to assess community needs, facility requirements, locations, and operating considerations; no demolition contract or cost was identified. Council also unanimously approved a recreational-use agreement with Austin College for city use of its indoor pool, with no dollar amount stated. Public-hearing items 5A and 5B were pulled for future notice, and the rezoning hearing for 2016 West Bond Street (case 2026-74Z) was tabled to October 19, 2026.
