The Keene School District Facilities Committee met on October 6, 2026 (the meeting metadata is dated October 7) and received an informational presentation on a proposed Keene High School safety, security, and student-space renovation program. Concepts include staffed and secured entrances, access controls and cameras, vehicle barriers, redesigned bathrooms and locker rooms, life-skills classrooms, and an outdoor cafeteria area. The presenters said the project is in the district’s CIP for 2028–29 through 2031–32; it might be completed in about two years if building aid becomes available, or take three to five years without it. No project funding or contract was approved. The committee voted to accept the presentation as informational and requested the safety review report; future prioritization and any recommendation to the full board remain under consideration for budget time.

The buildings-and-grounds update covered ongoing and planned work, including district fire inspections, completed critical-incident mapping for first responders, elevator work at the high school, fire-alarm and ventilation-system follow-up, and an ADA playground improvement at Franklin Elementary. Staff reported receiving pricing for Foster Field upgrades and planning a consolidated materials-storage area behind the baseball field. The update also described vendor servicing of oil- and gas-fired equipment and scheduled elevator work, but no new contract awards or spending votes were reported. The committee approved the prior meeting’s minutes 4–0.
