Ascension Public Schools board workshop, titled October 6, 2026 (meeting timestamp: October 7, 2026), reviewed Business Services, Human Resources, IT, and Operations priorities. Business Services reported a general-fund operating budget above $359 million and said 72.77% of the operating budget goes to instruction. IT is in year one of a five-year network-infrastructure refresh covering switches, access points, and routers; the project is expected to cost close to $4 million, with 80% reimbursement anticipated. The district also spends about $250,000–$300,000 annually on phone, WAN, and internet lines. Officials discussed reducing redundant software platforms and maintaining cybersecurity, but no new vendor selection or contract award was announced.
Operations reported an $83.5 million general-fund budget for its departments and described ongoing bond-funded construction, including work at the school board office and Donaldsonville athletic buildings, as well as planning for the current 2024 bond program and a future bond list. The district has a lease-purchase agreement for 89 buses, expected to arrive in January; no contract value was stated. Officials also discussed a roughly $1 million fuel budget, surplus-bus auctions, supplemental contracted custodial services amid a shortage of 23–24 custodians, and approximately $150,000 in safety grants. The workshop concluded without motions or votes; no procurement approvals were taken.
