The City of Sandy City Council met on October 5, 2026, for a work session and regular meeting. The council agreed to scrap the prior Pleasant Street improvement plan rather than pursue a broad, costly streetscape project. Members favored prioritizing safety-related sidewalk gaps, ADA ramps, and school access across the community, with staff to develop inventories and pursue a Safe Routes to School grant when applications reopen. Staff estimated a broader Pleasant Street package at roughly $1.6 million without contingency and up to $2 million with contingency, but no project award or spending authorization was made. Staff also reported receiving three quotes for a stormwater master plan; no vendor selection was announced. The council asked staff to investigate school pickup and bus-safety options near the former pool property and to explore potential improvements near development sites in coordination with affected property owners.
The council approved a contract amendment with Triangle Pump for storage and monthly maintenance of pumps for the Bull Run pump station while the water project is delayed. The amendment’s dollar amount was not stated; staff described the storage fee as nominal and said maintenance would help preserve the equipment and warranty options. Staff reported the pump station design is expected to proceed after land-use review, with bidding anticipated in 2027. No other procurement award was identified. The council also discussed wastewater system development charges, future water and wastewater projects, and possible funding needs, but took no related spending action.
