Governing Board Regular Meeting 10/06/26

The SVUSD Admin Governing Board regular meeting was held October 6, 2026. The board approved the FY2026 annual financial report and school-level report for submission to the Arizona Department of Education by October 15. The finance presentation reported approximately $32.97 million in maintenance-and-operations spending, below the earlier projection of $35–36 million, and $714,000 in capital spending. Administration said a possible transfer of about $456,000 from maintenance and operations back to capital may be considered in the final budget revision. The presentation also described an approximately $13 million state-aid correction under review by the state; those funds were characterized as debt cash the district cannot use. No contract award or competitive procurement was identified.

The board approved a minimum-wage adjustment effective January 1, 2027, to comply with Arizona’s increase from $15.15 to $15.65 per hour; administration agreed to provide a future estimate of the district’s total cost, including benefits. Other approved items included a Kansas State University student-intern affiliation agreement, Buena High School cross-country travel funded through student activity funds, and a facility-use fee waiver for the educators association’s holiday bazaar. The board also accepted donations, including $1,000 for a school cheer team and baseball training equipment valued at approximately $3,770. A grant-funded math fellow program was discussed as providing support at no cost to the district.
