At the October 6, 2026, Coeur d’Alene City Council meeting, the council approved Resolution 26-079, a $252,000 professional services agreement with J-U-B Engineers for design of about 1,000 feet of wastewater sewer replacement in two alleys. Design is expected through winter and early 2027; the project is planned to go out to bid for construction afterward, with a later council decision on construction costs. The council also accepted a $1,200 aquifer-protection grant for an educational model and approved a water-service replacement policy. Both measures passed by roll-call vote.

The council approved a fiscal-year 2026–27 budget amendment for police vehicles and equipment destroyed in the 2024 support-building fire, but removed two motorcycles from the request for later consideration through the regular budget process. The revised request was $382,432, including $178,000 in remaining insurance proceeds and approximately $204,432 from the general fund; it covers the Lenco BearCat armored rescue vehicle, which cost $334,932, and other public-safety equipment. The discussion identified gaps in tracking the insurance proceeds and purchase communications; staff said it would develop a centralized purchase-order process. Separately, after a public hearing, the council denied without prejudice an application to annex and zone 9.32 acres for R17 residential use, citing concerns that included traffic and neighborhood impacts.
