Davie County Schools Board of Education meeting, October 6, 2026: The board unanimously approved Magnolia Construction as general contractor for the Davie County High School CTE advanced manufacturing lab and approved the related construction contract. The presented total, including alternates, was $2,378,697 (base bid $1,955,200; alternates of $31,045, $326,450, and $66,002). Alternate 2 would extend the building footprint with an unfinished “cold dark shell” area for later completion. The project is expected to begin with a late-October groundbreaking, with completion projected around September 2027 and student use targeted for January 2028. Funding is expected from state appropriations and Golden LEAF; staff noted that funding is released in stages and that the project must meet funders’ requirements.

The board also unanimously approved an extension of the superintendent’s contract through June 30, 2030, increasing monthly travel expenses from $600 to $1,000 and the retirement contribution from $5,000 to $7,500. It received a clean audit for fiscal year 2025–26, with no reported findings, and heard that the general fund balance increased by about $320,000. Other business included approval of board policies and the district strategic plan, and a school-improvement update for South Davie Middle School; a vote to retain its principal passed. The improvement plan is scheduled for board action in November. The school described professional development support from Inspired Instruction, but no associated procurement approval or amount was reported.
