The Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations held its monthly meeting on October 5, 2026. Commissioners approved the July 6 and August 17 meeting minutes by motion and vote. During the finance report, members said the mayor’s initial city budget submission included the commission’s request without cuts; the commission is also considering raising funds to support students and interns. The director reported receiving $30,200 for case processing under one federal work-sharing arrangement and $52,700 under the EEOC contract, with the latter assigned to the EEOC trust fund. These were reported as payments for case processing; no procurement, new contract award, vendor selection, or purchasing approval was identified.

The director also described case workload, mediation and outreach activities, upcoming community events, and a need to fill five vacant commissioner positions. Members supported coordinating a written request to the mayor’s office for appointments. Public commenters promoted the 2027 racial justice summit and an upcoming event on human rights and community participation. An executive session on personnel was requested for after the meeting.
