📚 Education Grants & Funding Regulatory Compliance

Grants Cibola County Schools Board work session, October 6, 2026: The board approved a $1,000 donation from Homestake Mining for ingredients for the Grants High School culinary program. It also approved Board Resolution 2027-2, authorizing timely budget adjustment requests to be submitted before board review and subsequently ratified; the motion passed with one “no” vote. The superintendent explained that the process is intended to avoid missed reimbursements and funding deadlines. No contracts, vendor awards, or competitive procurements were considered. The board also discussed potential sponsorship advertising, but made no specific procurement decision on it.

The board heard first reads of policy revisions concerning religious neutrality, release time for religious instruction, and student groups under the Equal Access Act; no approval vote was taken on those policies. Other business included preliminary student assessment data, development of the district strategic plan, and a vote to defer the superintendent’s fall formative evaluation until an evaluation tool and board training are available. The board scheduled further strategic-plan review and feedback for a November work session.
