The October 5, 2026 Finance / Buildings & Grounds Committee meeting of Ojrsd Technology focused on the main-campus improvement project. Skanska and design-team representatives reviewed the phased schedule, expected to continue through 2030, including field work, building additions, parking and access improvements, and renovations. The project’s earlier overall estimate was about $195 million, including construction and soft costs. Representatives said recent estimates for near-term phases account for projected annual cost escalation of roughly 4%. The high school mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades are currently estimated at just under $37 million; the roof project covers the full middle school roof and part of the high school roof, with its scope and budget still being finalized, including coordination with existing solar panels.

The next procurements are phases two and three, primarily deferred maintenance. Staff said they expect to ask the board on October 12 for approval to advertise the packages for public bid—not to award contracts at this meeting. The MEP work is planned as five bid packages and the roof work as three; outreach would use the project team’s contractor lists and BuildingConnected. The project team described the phased work as intended to limit disruption to school operations. The administration also discussed a potential first bond issue of $20–24 million later in the fall, subject to parameters set in a resolution approved the prior month; it said the underwriting arrangement requires the underwriter to purchase any bonds not sold. No procurement approvals or contract awards were made at this meeting. A resident raised concerns about the project’s cost and proposed athletic fields.
