The Town of Fairfield Economic Development Commission met on October 1, 2026. Members approved the prior meeting minutes and discussed plans for a local-business educational program informed by a recent business assessment survey, with a possible announcement at the November 19 business thank-you reception. The director reported on local business events and ongoing development activity, including demolition in downtown Fairfield, a proposed residential development on Thorp Street, the Corner Project’s approvals, and an unresolved sewer and pedestrian-bridge easement issue. Members also discussed preparing a white paper on an underused site by year-end and the continuing court-related delay involving the Circle Diner property.

The meeting included updates on university-business partnerships, upcoming community events, and flood damage and recovery, including an assessment visit involving SBA and Homeland Security representatives and the need for additional generators. The Parks and Recreation Commission had approved use of Penfield Pavilion for the reception and waived its rental fee, although cleaning and custodial costs remained. No contract awards, bids, or procurement decisions by the Commission were identified; no spending-related motion or vote was reported.
