At its October 5, 2026 meeting, the Marlborough City Council held a public hearing on MRG Real Estate Ventures LLC’s application for a special permit to operate a donation-collection truck and trailer parking site at 38 Airport Boulevard. The applicant, an affiliate of American Thrift Stores, described an expected operation growing from three box trucks and one trailer to a maximum of eight box trucks and three trailers, generally operating weekdays from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The council raised questions about truck routing, idling, lighting, and nearby residences; no decision on the special permit was recorded, and formal site plan review would follow if the permit is granted.
The council unanimously approved a $976,694 transfer from meals-tax revenue to fund FY2027 bond payments for parks and recreation improvements. It also approved authorizing the mayor to enter an intermunicipal agreement with Hullbrook for regional fire and police dispatch, with implementation proposed for July 2028; members cited anticipated savings and service improvements, while noting effects on current dispatch staff. A related proposal to amend the police department ordinance to allow dispatch regionalization was moved for advertising. The council also referred a proposed amendment concerning temporary A-frame signs to committee. No contract award or vendor procurement was identified.
