The Saline County Board of County Commissioners meeting was held October 6, 2026. The commission approved its consent agenda, which included the FY2027 WIC grant contract and authorization for the health department director to sign it. A proposed fleet-management lease arrangement with Marshall Motors was not approved: commissioners raised concerns about acting before county counsel completed its review. The proposal would establish a master lease agreement and authorize individual orders within a 2027 budget allocation of $200,000, with orders later presented for ratification. The commission also tabled a proposed $100,000 amendment to retain a generator at 651 East Prescott, asking staff to obtain better comparison pricing before deciding.
The road and bridge update reported several contracted or completed projects, including an APAC asphalt overlay, a Heft Suns chip-seal program costing $862,710.86, and the Ohio Street reconstruction completed by Mom Construction for $863,681.15. Schwab Eaton received a $47,290 design contract for Kip Road improvements, which also have $340,000 in High-Risk Rural Roads funding; the county is targeting construction in 2029. Harbin Construction and JJ Architects were approved for a $32,000 design and preconstruction phase for the county office remodel. The meeting also included public comments about groundwater protection and property access, a disability employment awareness proclamation, and department updates; no other procurement decisions were identified.
