At the October 6, 2026 Amherst County Service Authority Board meeting, the board approved a motion authorizing the executive director to award and execute UHY, Inc.’s proposal for financial roadmapping to assess a potential transition from county-provided to Authority-managed financial services. The proposal’s cost was not stated. The Authority also reported that bids for the Route 130 and Route 210 waterline projects are due November 19, with results expected to be brought to the board in December. A state grant of $1,999,843 was announced for the South Madison Heights infrastructure project, supporting sewer improvements and extensions in the Lake View subdivision.

The director reported that the Berkshire sewer extension was underway and noted that proposals for the Authority’s automated meter infrastructure (AMI) project would be presented later. Drought conditions had paused the hydrant-flushing program, while emergency pumping from the James River was operating at about 1.9 million gallons per day; no related contract award or spending vote was reported. The board also voted to cancel its November 3 meeting because it falls on Election Day.
