The Hillsboro R-III School District Board of Education met on August 20, 2026. The board approved a budget amendment and other consent items. It also approved a $6,000 human-capital analytics program, with the superintendent stating that the district expected to cancel an existing program and that the change would be cost-neutral. No construction contracts or vendor awards were made. Architects Bon Allison Miller presented community engagement findings from 941 survey responses and early, illustrative facilities options. Priorities included school safety and security, facility improvements, traffic and pickup/drop-off changes, fine arts spaces, athletic facilities, and playground upgrades.
The board approved a resolution calling a special election for November 3, 2026, on Proposition H, an operating tax levy question. The superintendent described the proposed amount as approximately $1.39 and said the funding would support district operations as well as the facilities priorities under discussion; the transcript’s figures are partly garbled. The presentation also noted that holding the election in November was expected to cost about $25,000, compared with about $13,000 in April. The facilities concepts remain in planning, and no specific projects were authorized for procurement at this meeting.
