The Normandy Schools Collaborative Board of Education’s regular meeting and tax-rate hearing took place September 29, 2026. The board approved the 2026 tax levy as presented: a blended rate of $5.1717, down slightly from $5.1752 the prior year. The discussion also covered two measures scheduled for the November 3 ballot. Proposition N would shift 55 cents from the debt-service levy to the operating levy, without changing the overall tax rate, and was estimated to generate about $2.5 million annually for operations. Proposition B would ask voters to authorize $40 million in bonds for improvements; the presenter said the resulting debt would extend to 2046, compared with the current debt schedule ending in 2041. These measures were presented for voter consideration, not approved by the board at this meeting.
The board also approved a consent-agenda item for Branchtop Solutions, a service requested by school principals for students; the transcript provides no contract amount or further terms. Board members raised questions about the tax-rate calculation, the senior tax credit’s effect, financial transparency, and public notice of hearings. No other contract awards or purchasing actions were identified.
