Christian County Commission meeting, Christian County, Missouri, July 31, 2026. The Highway Department presented its second-quarter report on bridge, roadway, stormwater, and resurfacing projects. Work included right-of-way negotiations for several bridges and roads, completed roadway improvements, and planned resurfacing of Cottonwood Road. For the Tracker Road project, a consultant’s evaluation identified a roundabout as the preferred option for further public consideration; the project has about $944,000 in grant funding, with utility relocation identified as a potential major cost. The department also reported that FEMA funding for the Holder Road box-culvert project had been withdrawn and that the county intends to pursue it as a local project. Commissioners discussed reviewing 33 county-maintained roads within the Mark Twain National Forest individually before expiring maintenance easements are considered, weighing maintenance costs, road conditions, and residents served; no decision was made on those easements.
The Commission considered an annual engineering-services RFQ that drew 10 submissions. The department recommended six firms to cover different specialties and presented four master contracts for approval; these contracts do not themselves allocate funds, with project-specific work orders, purchase orders, and approvals required later. The Commission approved the contracts. For the Kelner Road project, three bids were received, and the department recommended the low bidder, at Urban, for a base bid of $175,152; the transcript is unclear on the final motion or vote on that bid. The report noted that the amount could be lower after clarification of a disputed rebar quantity. No other procurement awards or spending votes are clearly identifiable in the transcript.
