At its September 22, 2026 commission meeting, St. Francois County approved several spending and procurement actions. Commissioners authorized a three-year extension of the tax-statement mailing contract with EJ Rice, previously bid in 2025 with renewal options; the stated amount appears to be $27,532.61. They also approved purchasing a sole-source incinerator from US Global Resources for the Sheriff’s Department for $15,386, funded from the settlement fund, subject to the required public notice. The commission approved a Williams alarm contract for the coroner’s office at $540 annually, with approximately $1,800 in back payments, and approved Atkins as the sole-source ballot printer for the 2026 election. A request to advertise bids for the Silver Springs Road and King School Road bridge projects was approved; the engineer discussed packaging them for a single contractor award, with July 1, 2027, as the completion date. The transcript also records approval of an unclear replacement item with a not-to-exceed amount of $4,500.
The commission approved prosecuting-attorney salary adjustments totaling about $25,600 annually, including a $77,000 starting rate for new attorneys, and a pay increase for an employee in the collector’s office. Residents urged the county to adopt a one-year moratorium on data centers; commissioners said they would review the proposal, but took no action or vote on a moratorium. No other procurement policy was adopted.
