The St. Francois County Commission meeting on August 25, 2026, included several purchasing and contract actions. Commissioners approved a $27,889.75 bid from Heavy Duty Equipment for a tree puller, angle broom, brush cutter, and snow plow; $7,258 in additional fire-alarm work at the detention center; replacement of the county and side entrance doors for $15,001 through the TIPS cooperative purchasing system; and an approximately $17,800 jail command-control system update using equal-sharing funds. They also approved a ballistic-vest purchase from Point Blank through Leon Uniform: the purchase is supported by a 50/50 grant, with a county share of $12,181.51. The commission approved a one-year renewal of the detention center’s medical services contract, though no amount was stated, and approved payment of roughly $155 in additional Guardian ad Litem fees. Two audit bids—from Maloney, Wright & Robins and Mueller—were received but deferred for review and a later decision.

The commission authorized applying for a bridge-replacement grant for the Seven Arches Bridge; the project was described as potentially costing more than $1 million, with preservation and replacement options still under study. It also approved an application for a DOJ grant for the Sheriff’s Department, which could support staffing and proposed projects including detention-center expansion, equipment, a training and wellness center, and a five-year Cellebrite proposal quoted at $230,000; these were grant-application plans, not contract awards. The commission approved an agreement with Life Center related to its proposed $2.5 million HUD home-modification grant, with the organization responsible for grant costs and financial operations. Other actions included setting the tax levy at 0.00278 and directing review of a county PTO rule to provide consistent 90-day eligibility across departments.
