The Blue Springs School District Board work session on September 21, 2026, included a preview of the property-tax levy presentation scheduled for the following week. Staff reported assessed value had fallen by more than $80 million, primarily due to commercial property values. The operating levy ceiling was expected to rise by roughly 17–18 cents, while a lower debt-service levy kept the overall increase to a little over 8 cents; the debt-service levy was proposed to remain at 1.0875. No levy vote or procurement approval occurred at this work session. In a review of FY2026 finances, staff cited lower property-tax and state revenues, spending below budget in supplies, and an operating reserve of $54.1 million, or 23.57% (about 86 days), down approximately $6.5 million. Staff also discussed the district’s 159-bus fleet, including 21 natural-gas buses the district is trying to phase out; replacement planning depends on available funding. No contracts, vendors, bids, or purchasing motions were identified.

The board also discussed proposed student health-related policies, requesting further clarification and information before moving one proposal forward. Transportation updates covered bus-driver reviews and training, route checks, hot-weather procedures, and communication with families. Other discussion focused on committee activities, student programs, and school-community events.
