The Hope Cemetery Commission met on October 5, 2026, to review capital improvements, purchasing, cemetery operations, and security. The city is developing a conceptual redesign of the cemetery maintenance area, with bond eligibility being vetted; a design update is expected at a future meeting, followed by a ballpark cost estimate. Equipment purchases are moving through the purchasing process. The city is also working with Central Garage to put used cemetery equipment out to bid as surplus. No contract awards or purchase amounts were reported.
The cemetery software RFP has been delayed. Responses have been received, and staff are coordinating with Purchasing on next steps, including vendor demonstrations; because of the delay, the city may issue the RFP again. Staff will provide an update at a future meeting. The commission also discussed a needed repair to the New York gate, cemetery maintenance, and security coverage, including additional staffing and security for Halloween. Motions to file several reports and updates passed, and the commission voted to keep cemetery condition and security items open; no procurement approvals were made.
