The Chesterfield County Domestic Violence Task Force held its 10th annual Go Purple community-awareness event on October 5, 2026. Speakers shared survivor and family experiences, highlighted the importance of safety planning and support, and recognized the Domestic and Sexual Violence Resource Center and the Carolyn Miller Memorial Fund, which provides utility assistance to survivors and their children. The task force reported that in the prior year county agencies responded to 8,068 domestic violence calls, made 1,965 arrests, and provided services to victims and survivors through multiple programs. No procurement activity, contract decisions, or spending approvals were identified.

The event recognized nominees and community partners for service, with Samantha Burgess receiving the task force’s eighth annual Outstanding Service Award. Additional recognitions honored county employee Melissa Claude and three faith-community partners. Speakers encouraged community members to listen without judgment and connect survivors with trained advocates and resources.
