# Historical Resources Advisory Board - October 1, 2026

**Body:** Citrus County Government
**Date:** September 30, 2026
**Jurisdiction:** SLED

The Citrus County Historical Resources Advisory Board met on October 1, 2026. Members unanimously approved the prior meeting minutes with a spelling correction. The board discussed the county windshield survey and whether its updates would be submitted to the Florida Department of State’s Division of Historical Resources. During public comment, a resident described plans to pursue state-level recognition for a historic Ozello structure and asked for the board’s future consideration and assistance with research. The meeting also included a presentation on identifying, protecting, and conserving historic properties, including local surveys, historic districts, adaptive reuse, and preservation resources.

Staff updates covered possible authentication of a local Sears catalog house, the Old Homosassa overlay district, a property seeking setback relief before the zoning board, progress on the Red Brick coffeehouse, and a tree-planting proposal near the historic courthouse. Staff said the tree proposal was approved because the nearest historic site was about 3.14 miles away; projects closer to historically significant areas would be brought to the board for review. A cell-tower permit was also discussed, with staff clarifying that it did not go before the Planning and Development Board. No procurement activity, contract awards, spending decisions, or budget allocations were identified.
