The City of Flagstaff Indigenous Commission met on October 1, 2026. The commission discussed holding another “Voices Unheard” event on missing and murdered Indigenous relatives and related violence prevention. Members expressed support for holding the event, potentially in spring 2027, and voted unanimously to support a future event; no event budget or expenditure was approved. A council member said the full annual $25,000 council discretionary fund was available and offered to develop a sponsorship request with staff; a possible $1,200 venue-rental cost was mentioned, with the final request amount still to be determined. Members also discussed seeking support through IPAC and community fundraising.

The commission received an update on the October 12 Indigenous People’s Day event. A meal estimate of about $4,500 was considered unaffordable, and organizers instead arranged food with Artisan’s Kitchen; the Elks Lodge was also providing a discount, and most speakers were donating their time. The meeting additionally relayed the city’s review of boards and commissions, including possible structural or operational changes, but no related decision or procurement action was taken.
