The City of Meridian Transportation Commission met on October 5, 2026. ACHD reported that its 2027–2031 five-year plan was adopted and that construction projects on Franklin Road (McDermott to Black Cat) and Stoddard Road (Victory to Overland) are out for bid; additional projects are being prepared for advertisement. No bid awards or contract approvals occurred. ACHD also said a rectangular rapid-flashing beacon is planned for Pine Avenue near Ten Mile Creek next spring, with the exact location still to be determined. The commission discussed a proposed East 2.5 Street alignment; City Council had directed staff to proceed with plan and policy updates, but no formal vote had been taken. Downtown parking options, including possible public parking facilities, were discussed by a newly formed committee, with no spending decision made.

Other discussion focused on neighborhood speeding and safe school routes near Chaparral Elementary, including a request to study speeds and review pedestrian access. The commission planned further review through a subcommittee. ACHD noted that a vehicle registration fee renewal will be on the November ballot; if not renewed, the district could lose about $14 million annually, currently used in part for congestion management and safe-routes-to-school work. The commission approved its agenda and amended prior meeting minutes, and later adjourned; no procurement-related motions or votes were taken.
