Akron City Council’s Planning and Economic Development Committee met on October 6, 2026. Members discussed a proposed amendment to Title 15 development standards that would allow development on roughly 11,000 vacant parcels that are smaller than current lot standards, without changing the parcels’ existing permitted uses. The planning director said the change could simplify approvals and support infill housing; council members raised questions about neighborhood character, whether duplexes or other multi-unit housing could be built, setbacks, and parking. The committee voted 3–2 to take additional time on the ordinance, so it was not advanced at this meeting.

The committee also considered a conditional-use ordinance for storing more than five vehicles at 1167 East Eastland Avenue. The chair said the ward council member opposed the request and indicated it would be presented for an adverse report; no committee vote on that item is recorded in the transcript. A separate matter concerning 911 Mirman Road remained under discussion with neighbors. No procurement activity, contract awards, vendor selections, or spending decisions were identified.
