10.7.26: Design Review Committee

The City of Ventura Design Review Committee met on October 8, 2026. The committee continued approval of its prior meeting minutes to the next month and continued Project 230251 without setting a date. Its main item was Project 25-079, the Lineup redevelopment at 51–71 South Oak Street, a commercial project adding a second story to existing buildings. Staff reviewed revisions addressing earlier design comments, including landscaping and defensible space, lighting, bicycle parking, the second-story deck and guardrail, hardscape, security fencing, rooftop mechanical screening, and stormwater controls. The committee discussed these features and commended the applicant’s revisions; no public comments were received.

On a unanimous 4–0 vote, the committee recommended approval of the coastal development permit, historic design review, and major design review, with no additional design changes recommended by the committee. The project will proceed to the Community Development Director for a decision; staff identified plan-check verification of mechanical-equipment screening and a fence-height limit of six feet as approval-related requirements. No contracts, vendor selections, bids, spending decisions, or other procurement activity were identified.
