At the October 6, 2026, Madera County Board of Supervisors regular meeting, the board approved an energy services master agreement with Southland Industries and Amendment 1 authorizing solar photovoltaic and bundled lighting projects at county facilities. The projects have estimated payback periods ranging from about 6 to 16 years, with some lighting work around 17 years; staff estimated a net construction cost just over $2 million after an anticipated federal tax credit of approximately $400,000. The board also approved a three-year agreement for a required groundwater sustainability annual report, a related $196,000 agreement with approximately $160,000 reimbursed by other agencies, and an amendment to County Contract No. 11686G-25 for engineering, bidding, and design of the Tally Diversion recharge project. These actions passed by recorded votes, generally 5–0.

The board authorized submission of a competitive state park grant application seeking up to $8.5 million, with no required match, for a proposed new park of approximately 10 acres in Madera Ranchos. It also approved several groundwater and land-repurposing actions, including a Goose Pond easement and agreement supported by Proposition 68 funding; an increase in domestic-well mitigation assistance from $35,000 to $50,000 for eligible households connecting to an existing water system; and a 118-acre almond-orchard conversion project by Madera Ag Supply and Madera Louisiana Vineyards for native habitat and a community buffer zone. No bid awards were reported. The crop report and other presentations addressed agriculture, tourism, and community matters but did not result in additional procurement actions.
