The City of Inglewood held a General Plan scoping meeting on October 1, 2026, to gather public input on the environmental review for its General Plan update. The city said PlaceWorks, a private planning firm hired to lead the update and the environmental impact report (EIR), is managing the work; no contract amount or number was stated, and no procurement vote or spending action was reported. The proposed plan includes new mixed-use land-use categories along major corridors, while existing residential designations and certain specific-plan areas would remain unchanged. The update also covers circulation, conservation, noise, open space, safety, environmental justice, and economic development.

The scoping discussion covered the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) program-level EIR, including analysis of traffic and vehicle miles traveled, air quality, energy and greenhouse-gas emissions, parks and open space, hazards, and other environmental effects. The public comment period on the Notice of Preparation closes October 15, 2026; a draft EIR and technical studies are tentatively expected for public review in summer 2027, followed by hearings tentatively scheduled for fall 2027. The plan’s buildout horizon is 2050. No decisions or votes were taken; the meeting was for public input on the scope of the environmental analysis.
