The City of Lake Forest Traffic and Parking Commission met on October 5, 2026, and received an update on the city’s capital improvement program (CIP). The program includes approximately 60 projects and $55 million in investment. Since June 2025, 19 projects representing about $10.5 million have been completed; 12 are under construction, nine are in preconstruction, six are in design, and three are entering early design. The presentation covered transportation work including El Toro Road corridor improvements and the substantially complete Bake/Trabuco intersection project. The city has awarded contracts for pavement-maintenance work and amended an existing contract to add striping at Bake/Trabuco; no vendors, contract numbers, or dollar amounts for these awards were provided. The Civic Center exterior painting project is expected to be advertised in the coming months.

Commissioners discussed lane markings and merging concerns at Bake/Trabuco, school-area pedestrian safety, traffic-signal timing, and ongoing parking concerns on Malibar. Staff said it would review potential signage and school-area safety measures, and anticipated that the incoming traffic engineering manager would bring the Malibar issue to City Council in December. The consent calendar was approved by voice vote. No new procurement policy was adopted.
