The Rutherford County Highway Commission meeting on October 5, 2026, approved the September minutes as amended and approved the financial statements. Members asked about an $89,000 payment to Ford of Murfreesboro for two previously ordered pickup trucks, which was charged to the prior fiscal year’s equipment budget, and a $982,000 paving payment. Staff described the paving payment as part of the department’s ongoing operations; the board also discussed the $4.5 million asphalt budget as a projection shaped by seasonal paving conditions, with any needed overage requiring a budget amendment. The commission approved a vendor name change from PRI to Three Rivers for the state’s asphalt operations, confirming that existing contracted bid rates would remain unchanged. The department said it expects to bid tires in November; discussion also covered prior bid-posting materials and the possibility of a future presentation on online bidding tools, including OpenGov, but no purchase or contract for such a system was approved.

The commission approved two temporary construction easements for drainage work and subdivision warranty releases. It also appointed a road-board representative to the county audit committee. No new paving award or budget amendment was voted on during the meeting.
