The City of Rosemount, Minnesota, City Council held its regular meeting on October 6, 2026. The council unanimously approved a $2,290,047.98 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant to fund nine full-time firefighters. The grant covers 75% of costs in each of the first two years and 35% in the final year, with the city covering the balance; the preliminary 2027 budget includes the city’s first-year share. The council also unanimously approved receiving bids and awarding contracts, including alternate bid items, for Bid Package 1 of the Fire Station 2 expansion and remodel. The project drew 146 bids across 26 work categories; its total was discussed as approximately $12 million against a $14 million budget. Terra Construction is serving as construction manager, and CNH Architects handled design work.
The consent agenda included acceptance of fire-prevention donations of $3,000 from the American Legion and $200 from Twin City Homes, a Halloween Haunted Trail service agreement, and other routine items. Following a public hearing, the council unanimously approved certifying 553 delinquent municipal-service accounts, totaling about $445,000, to the 2027 property-tax rolls. The council also heard an update on efforts to address Rosemount High School parking and received a reminder about the planned Fire Station 2 groundbreaking; no additional procurement action was reported on those items.
