The October 5, 2026, Laramie County School District 1 Board of Trustees meeting included procurement and financial matters. The board approved the consent agenda, which included the payroll and bills as the formal record of expenditures already processed, and permission to purchase a replacement facilities-management vehicle. The CFO said the vehicle replaces one declared a total loss in the August 2025 hailstorm; after a vendor’s original quote omitted specified equipment and could not be honored, the district issued a new formal bid rather than proceed at a higher price outside the bidding process. The purchase will not increase the district’s fleet. The CFO also described district purchasing controls, including review by budget officers and the purchasing department, and noted that purchases up to $25,000 generally do not require formal bidding but still go through those reviews.

The board separately approved permission to contract with Caldwell Banker The Property Exchange for commercial real estate brokerage services related to future district property dispositions. The broker was selected through a competitive RFP; compensation will be based on the final negotiated agreement and commission and fee schedule, and the contract allows for five years of services. The district plans an independent appraisal of the property, and the CFO reported informal interest in the building. During public comment, a speaker questioned a bill of more than $6,600 for Deer Oaks EAP services and asked the district to disclose costs, participation, outcomes, and continuation criteria before renewing or continuing programs. No specific action on that request was recorded.
