The City of Amarillo Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on October 5, 2026, addressed subdivision plats and rezoning requests; no procurement activity, contract awards, or purchasing decisions were identified. The Commission approved the Tradeland Square replat subject to receipt of corrected originals, approved the Heritage Hills replat subject to corrected originals, and approved the Town Square 21 plat for a planned fast-food restaurant subject to corrected originals and completion or financial surety for public infrastructure. It also approved rezoning approximately 21 acres for the final planned phase of the Vineyard subdivision from Agricultural to Residential District 3.
After extensive public comment regarding traffic, drainage, utilities, neighborhood character, and density, the Commission unanimously declined the request to rezone 7.66 acres on Fairlane Acres from Residential District 1 to Moderate Density District 1, which would have supported a proposed 51-home development. The applicant may appeal the decision; the item was expected to go before City Council on October 27 if appealed by the stated deadline. The Commission also approved minutes from its September 9 and September 21 meetings.
