Brevard Public Schools held a board work session on October 6, 2026. The transportation department presented a proposed conversion to Tyler Technologies’ student transportation platform, consolidating functions now handled by three vendors and integrating with the district’s existing Tyler fleet-maintenance system. The proposal estimates annual costs of about $510,000, compared with roughly $596,000 for current services, and includes approximately $758,000 in implementation services and hardware costs amortized over five years. The district projected five-year savings of about $745,000 if current vendor costs rise, or about $430,000 if they remain flat. Implementation would include planning after board approval, software work beginning in January, equipment installation from April through summer, and a summer-school pilot ahead of a targeted August 2027 launch. The presentation was informational; no contract award or spending vote was taken, and approval will be sought at a later meeting.

The board also reviewed policy revisions, many described as responses to state legislation or education regulations. Discussion of nondiscrimination language was deferred so related policies can be considered together, and members discussed oversight and possible supplemental funding through school support organizations. The board also reached consensus to publish and email a sales-tax education plan document. No other procurement award or purchasing action was identified.
