The Oswego County Legislature Public Safety Committee’s October 5, 2026 regular meeting considered several spending and procurement items. The committee approved a renewal of the county’s contract with Upstate for 911/EMS-related services after receiving one response to an RFP; the contract is due to expire in February, and the proposed cost is unchanged from the prior five years. Members approved a $70,000 911 overtime budget modification funded by a transfer from salaries and wages, with no net budget impact, and approved the 2027 STOP-DWI plan, which is funded by fines. They also approved a transfer of insurance-recovery funds to replace Project Safe Child equipment, including a printer and laptop.
The committee approved a sheriff’s patrol-vehicle capital project after amending its funding source from unappropriated fund balance to the automotive reserve. The sheriff’s office said the purchase is expected to provide about nine vehicles, while the county has typically replaced seven or eight annually against a goal of 15. A separate budget modification returned roughly $11,000 in proceeds from an equipment auction to the budget. In departmental updates, officials reported a $400,000 fire-services grant for command vehicles or trailers, to be brought back to the committee as it is developed, and said the county is beginning tests of Everbridge notification software available at no cost. No contract amount for the Upstate renewal or patrol-vehicle project was specified in the transcript.
