The Montgomery Public Schools Board meeting and work session took place August 11, 2026. The board received a June financial report showing a $16.4 million ending fund balance, down from the prior year largely because of Percy Julian construction spending; $64.6 million in discretionary local general funds was also supporting that project pending bond closeout. Members received an update on a concrete-treatment-services bid, but the transcript identifies no vendor, dollar amount, or award vote. Capital-project updates included Vulker School at 48% complete with substantial completion anticipated in January 2028, and the new Capitol Heights Middle School at 5% complete with a phase-one summer 2028 turnover goal. Other updates covered school HVAC, roofing, elevator, flooring, athletic-field, and transportation work. The JAG fieldhouse bid was rescheduled for September 1; a Flowers HVAC pre-bid drew three qualified contractors and included flooring and a canopy; and a transportation renovation bid was expected in late August or early September. No construction award votes were reported.

The board also heard a TeachTown Encore curriculum presentation: staff proposed a three-year license at $375 per student, with a one-year option quoted at $125,625, and said they would bring a recommendation for approval at the next board meeting; no vote occurred on the contract. In the work session, staff presented a CNP recruitment-and-retention allocation proposal of $2,000 for school-based workers and $3,000 for managers and central-office staff, funded from CNP funds and tied to a 24-month commitment; no approval vote is shown. A compensation and organizational review by Lean Frog recommended process, compliance, and succession improvements intended to be implemented without additional spending. The board unanimously approved the consent agenda and several personnel items, but the transcript does not identify procurement awards within those approvals.
