LIVE STREAM: RUSD Board Meeting 10-1-2026

The Riverside Unified School District Board of Education meeting was held October 1, 2026. The board approved three compensation agreements, each providing a 4% salary-schedule increase retroactive to July 1, 2026: an agreement with CSEA with an estimated ongoing annual fiscal impact of $6.1 million, an agreement with RCTA with a $13.3 million impact, and adjustments for executive cabinet, management, supervisors, and confidential employees estimated at $2.3 million. The board also approved Resolution 2026-27-10, establishing the district’s available spaces for its District of Choice program, and approved the consent calendar. No vendor selections, contract awards, or new procurement bids were identified.

The board received an update on campus safety improvements, noting that approximately $7.5 million had been dedicated to safety projects in 2023–24; the presentation discussed completed or ongoing measures such as cameras, entry controls, and other campus security enhancements, but no new spending authorization was presented. Trustees discussed the possibility of board subcommittees, without taking action, and reached consensus to schedule a future discussion of nutritional services, including meal costs and proposals raised in public comment. Public comments also requested resources and staff training for after-school support of students with special needs and raised concerns about Measure O bond oversight.
