The Greenfield Open Space Task Force met on September 28, 2026. Members approved the August minutes with edits; no contract awards or other spending decisions were made. The group discussed a CPA funding pre-proposal for conservation work, which had received a supportive letter. Project costs had not yet been estimated, and members noted that bidding requirements may apply if the project advances. The full application is due December 9, with the pre-proposal review expected in October. Members also discussed pursuing DCR Service Forestry funding for a forest management plan; they were advised to contact the program and compare forester estimates. No vendor was selected and no procurement action was approved.

Other discussion focused on reviewing roughly 90 city-owned vacant parcels for possible conservation, pollinator habitat, and wildlife-corridor value; coordinating with DPW on mowing and volunteer stewardship; and reporting on a site visit to Canada Hill. The Task Force discussed possible community engagement and broader conservation priorities, including flood storage and connected land areas. These were planning discussions, not purchasing decisions.
