The City of Lake Oswego Planning Commission met on October 12, 2026. The commission approved the September 14 and September 28 meeting minutes without opposition. Its main business was a work session on the city’s Resoning for Housing study (PP25-00001), which responds to a housing-capacity analysis showing a shortfall of about 600 units. Cascadia Partners presented a draft, equally weighted methodology for evaluating commercial and mixed-use parcels based on redevelopment potential, land and infrastructure suitability, and access to amenities. Potential focus areas include eastern Cruiseway, the Boones Ferry/Lake View Boulevard area, West Lake Grove, and First Addition/downtown; commissioners discussed parcel size, property-owner input, infrastructure data, employment-land preservation, and whether larger sites or development-readiness criteria should receive more weight. No methodology or rezoning decision was adopted at this work session.
Staff and commissioners discussed the planned early-November public open house, emphasizing the need to explain that the study is exploratory and would not force existing businesses or uses to change. The commission also noted that further master planning may be more suitable for areas such as the former Marylhurst campus and parts of the Cruiseway corridor. Cascadia Partners and Apex Civil Engineering were identified as members of the project team, but the transcript records no contract award, purchasing decision, procurement vote, or spending allocation. The next scheduled work session is October 26 on the Foothills plan; the November 9 meeting was canceled, with items moved to November 23.
