The City of Des Moines Municipal Housing Agency governing board and City Council met on October 5, 2026. The housing board approved publication of HUD-required 2027 small-area fair market rents and authorized a change to item 5’s amount from $300,000 to $400,000; that item would use funds to cover a projected December 2026 housing-assistance payment shortfall if needed. The board also considered submitting a Family Self-Sufficiency Program coordinators grant application to HUD. Recorded votes on the fair-market-rent and funding items were unanimous, with seven in favor.

The City Council approved a five-month emergency snow-and-ice equipment lease with Ziegler, Inc. at a combined monthly cost of $54,600, plus hourly overtime rates, and approved a $739,690 contract and bond for 2026 Sewer Repair Contract No. 2, awarded to Tony J. Vermeer. Council also approved moving forward with the East Army Post Road and Three Lakes Parkway roundabout project, including acquisition of necessary property interests. These actions passed on seven affirmative votes. A speaker advocated for a soccer stadium, but no related council action or procurement decision was reported.
