The Long Beach Parks Planning Workshop on July 28, 2026, presented the status of a park master plan developed with RVI Planning, selected after an RFI and public interviews. Proposed improvements include rebuilding the tennis courts and adding pickleball courts, paths and green spaces, a pergola, a bocce ball court, and other park features. The full plan was preliminarily estimated at about $2 million; a first phase focused on the courts was estimated at about $350,000. New court lighting was discussed as a possible additional expense of roughly $400,000, with a suggestion to install conduit during construction if lighting is deferred. These were planning estimates, not contract awards, and no procurement vote or spending approval was reported.

Board members described possible funding through available funds, donations, a matching grant of up to $50,000 (potentially $100,000 with community contributions), and possibly bonds for later phases. They discussed forming an independent 501(c)(3) to hold project-specific donations and considering whether to complete the project in phases or at once. Public comments raised questions about lighting, restrooms, court layout, path materials, green space, and future park uses. The board also said it was working with the town on combining parcels and establishing park zoning; no final funding, construction schedule, or project approval was announced.
