The LaPorte County Redevelopment Commission met on September 30, 2026. The commission reviewed claims, including $1,000 to MCR Partners for professional services, $1,500 to Gest & DeMartino PC for legal services, $2,757 to the Herald Dispatch for legal notices, and smaller financial-advisory and public-hearing-notification charges. It also approved $5,087.50 in claims for the US 421 allocation area 1, including $5,000 to MCR Partners and $87.50 to Senator Dalton. The transcript gives an unclear subtotal for the other claims. Members also approved a motion concerning the negative balance reported for US 421 allocation area 2. No RFP or contract award was discussed.

For the US 421/I-94 area, staff described a proposed development on about 22 acres near Kiefer Road, with an estimated $13 million investment and 65 jobs. A preliminary site plan has been received, and a declaratory resolution may be considered at a future meeting; staff will check whether bondholder concurrence is needed. The Kingsbury Tech Park zoning overlay was approved by the Plan Commission and county commissioners, allowing specified digital-infrastructure uses, including data, power, and battery projects, in the designated industrial area. The commission also discussed slow progress on another I-94 project and continued negotiations with one interested party for commission property after no offers were accepted through the initial process; any proposed agreement will return to the board for consideration.
